Don’t Let Fear Haunt Your Dreams
Here’s the real scary thing about October: it’s not the ghosts, the ghouls, or the things that go bump in the night. It’s the thought of letting another year go by without chasing the career you’ve always wanted.
Your dream career is calling. Don’t ghost it. 👻
A career change doesn’t have to be scary, especially when you’ve got a structured program, a passionate community, and a team of experienced mentors ready to walk you through every step of the way. We’ve helped hundreds of aspiring Tattoo Artists go from “I’ve always wanted to do this” to licensed, working Tattoo Artists, and we can do the same for you.
Don’t let fear hold you back from following your dream career. This October, the only thing you should be afraid of is not starting.

The industry
Join the $2.2 billion tattoo economy
The tattoo industry is booming, and it offers real opportunities for people ready to turn creative talent into a profession.
How it works
Learn inside a real tattoo studio
No lecture halls, no video course. You learn in a real, working professional tattoo studio, side by side with an experienced Tattoo Artist who is doing the thing you want to do. Instead of theory, you build hands-on skills that translate directly into a career:
- A real studio, not a lecture hall
- Hands-on skills, not just theory
- A Mentor beside you, from day one
- Your own ink set, free when you start this month
Side by side
Three ways in, honestly compared
We are not anti-college. For some people it is the right call. But “degree or nothing” is worth questioning, and so is the short course that promises a shortcut.
| Comparison | A four-year degree | A short tattoo course | An Ink Different Apprenticeship |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to working | 4+ years | Weeks to a few months | 18 to 24 months |
| Who teaches you | Faculty | Varies by provider | Working Tattoo Mentors with 10 to 20+ years in the industry, trained as educators |
| Where you train | A lecture hall | Varies by provider | A licensed studio, on real clients, supervised |
| What it costs you | About $37,853 in average student loan debt | Lower cost, shorter scope | A fraction of a four-year degree |
| Licensing | Not applicable | Varies by state and provider | We guide you through your state’s requirements |
| After you finish | A job is not guaranteed | You are on your own | Job placement support for every graduate |
| Paying for it | Loans | Varies, financing fees are common | Payment plans available |

What you actually learn
Four phases, 18 to 24 months
Not a syllabus you skim once. This is the order you learn it in, and nothing moves forward until the phase before it is solid. Your free ink set comes into play in Phase 02.
Foundations
- Bloodborne pathogens and sterilization
- Station setup and cross-contamination control
- Machine and needle theory
- Skin anatomy, and how ink behaves in it
The craft
- Linework and line confidence
- Shading, black and gray
- Color theory and pigments
- Design, placement and stencil work
Live skin
- Supervised procedures on real clients
- Your Tattoo Mentor in the room for every one
- Building a portfolio as you go
- Working to studio hygiene standards
The business
- Consultations, pricing and client care
- Booking, deposits and no-shows
- Portfolio and building a following
- Studio operations and licensing prep
For context, some states set 360 hours as the minimum for a tattoo course. An Ink Different Apprenticeship runs 18 to 24 months.
The people doing the teaching
You will not be taught by a video course
Every apprentice trains under a working Tattoo Mentor with 10 to 20+ years in the industry, inside a licensed studio, on real clients. These are the people who will be in the room with you.

This October, the only thing you should be afraid of is not starting.
Before you apply
What we look for
We would rather be straight with you now than take your application and waste your time.
This is for you if
- You are 18 or over
- You draw, and you can show us something you made. It does not have to be good, it has to be yours
- You can commit to 18 to 24 months
- You can get to your chosen studio reliably
- You want this as a career, not a hobby
It may not be for you yet if
- You are looking for a two-week certificate
- You want to learn entirely online, without ever working on skin
- You cannot commit the time yet. That is fine, come back when you can
- You have not drawn anything in years, and do not intend to start
We do not accept everyone who applies. Every apprentice takes up a Tattoo Mentor’s time, and there are only so many hours in a week. That is the honest reason.
In their own words
Two artists who took the leap
Brandon and Shamain are working Ink Different Tattoo Artists. Between them, about a minute on the path they chose instead of college.

This October, Make the Move
The scariest careers are the ones you never started. The most haunting regret is the dream you let fade away.
You’ve already been thinking about this. You’re already here, reading this, feeling something. That’s not an accident; that’s your future knocking.
So this spooky season, we dare you to do the one thing that actually takes guts: start.
Start in October and walk away with your free 14-color ink set, a guaranteed path to your tattoo license, and a community of artists and mentors who want to see you win.
No tricks. Just ink. Just you. Just the career you’ve been waiting for.
