Understanding the Paths: Tattoo Apprenticeship vs. Entrepreneurship Degree

First things first, Ink Different Tattoos is NOT a tattoo school. We don’t offer quick classes or crash courses like some others out there. Instead, we’re a nationwide community of professional Tattoo Artists dedicated to serious, in-depth tattoo apprenticeship. Our Traditional Tattoo Apprenticeship lasts 18 to 24 months (two years). This ample time gives tattoo apprentices the time and space to really develop their skills and learn tattooing from the ground up.

On the flip side, an entrepreneurship degree, which is four years by the way, usually focuses on business theory and classroom learning. It covers a wide range of topics, from marketing to finance, but often lacks hands-on experience. Sure, you may get a few months of internship or on-the-job training, but will those really direct you to become an entrepreneur? If you think about it, the whole four-year carousel can still leave graduates feeling unsure how to turn those lessons into real-world success.

In contrast, a tattoo apprenticeship is all about direct career training. You work alongside experienced pros, practice every day, build your skill set, and prepare for a career you can start immediately. Plus, those pros are also often tattoo shop owners or business people, meaning you’d get to learn from actual entrepreneurs, and not just college teachers. It’s a more focused, practical approach compared to the broader academic path of an entrepreneurship degree.
